Note: Beavertail Cactus; 18" tall; magenta.
This cactus does not have spines - but it DOES have nasty, little glochids radiating from each dimple in the flat pads. Unsuspecting tourists have handled the benign-looking pads only have those nearly-invisible glochids imbed themselves in hands and fingers.
Photo taken at Katherine Landing Ranger Station, Lake Mead National Recreation Area, Mohave County, Arizona on March 20.
