Note: In late June, the alpine flora of Hoosier Ridge forms a multicolored carpet so dense that it's difficult to find a place to put one's feet without stepping on one of the little beauties. O. podocarpa is part of that mosaic. Its purple flowers bask in the sun amid finely-cut, gray-green foliage in close proximity to Trifolium nanum, Silene acaulis and Minuartia obtusiloba.
