2470 - Woodland (Wild) - 2010-04-07 (Dimension: 990 x 770 pixels - Counter: 1486) HOUSTONIA PROCUMBENS Locality: Florida, USA - Suwannee River Area of Florida Photographer: John Gyer Note: The species is heterostylous, but the realative fertilities of the male and female forms is not known to me. The male form has exposed anthers attached near the throat of the corola tube. The style is short and the stigma appears club-like. The female form has well exposed style held on an elongated stigma. The anthers appear attached near the base of the corola tube, but they do have pollen. The "perfection" of the female form - i.e. the fertility of both sexes present is not known to me.
