62 - AlpenPix (Wild) - 2006-12-20 (Dimension: 783 x 807 pixels - Counter: 5101) Chionophila jamesii Photographer: Klaus Hendrix Note: 6-8 inches tall; creamy-white flowers with a brownish fringe. This specimen is unusually large both in leaf and in flower. It was photographed on the spine of the Continental Divide at 12,800 feet in Summit County, Colorado in July 1999. As of July, 2006, this same plant is still flourishing and is still overly large. (Click on the picture to enlarge) |
