- This easy compact quince was in bloom during a winter thaw on January 3, 2007 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
- Identification: Paige Woodward (2009-12-19) =Chaenomeles japonica 'Pygmaea'
- Possibly the lowest-lying form of flowering quince, this plant has had its name changed many times. For now, it seems reasonable to go with the Arnold Arboretum and C. japonica 'Pygmaea'.
