(Uploaded as: Unknown--purple Flowers) Locality: Mountain View Experimental Gardens, Peak 7 area, Breckenridge, Colorado, elevation 10,000 feet, USDA Zone 4. Photographer: Jane Hendrix Note: This unknown species arose in my garden 4 years ago. It stands about 6 to 8 inches in full flower. It blooms at my high elevation in the 3rd week of September. Because of its late blooming (and probably lack of suitable pollinator), it has never set seed. I have just this one plant. I would like to know its identity so I could get more seeds. I like its unusual flower. I have never seen a flower like this in wildflower books or seed catalogs. (Sent: Alpine-l@nic.surfnet.nl) Identification: solved (Click on the picture to enlarge)
