2376 - Woodland (Wild) - 2009-10-16(Dimension: 990 x 770 pixels - Counter: 5585) Trillium maculatum  Locality: USA - Georgia - Photographer: John Gyer Note: This picture is part of the series that illustrates color variation and is prompted by a recent thread on Trillium - L. This population had a frequent appearance of clear, uniform yellow floweres. The yellow forms had wider petals with a heavier texture than the reds. The yellows were completely uniform - no sign of the "forma simulans" that was seen in the low country of South Carolina. Unfortunately the population is very nearly gone probably due to a combination of several years of severe drought and the feeding ow wild hogs. There were few plants and no flowers found this spring (2009). (Sent: Trillium-l@nic.surfnet.nl)
