Patience! Wait for flowering. It appears to be a hybrid with one of the recurvata's and a dark leaved species. If it has a decent inflorescence and you see marketing potential then when the dust settles give it a Cultivar name and register it. (Sent: brom-l@science.uu.nl) - Note: Andy Siekkinen (2011-09-26) - It isn't a A. recurvata var. benrathii? Too many spines for var. benrathii? (Sent: brom-l@science.uu.nl)
- Note: Eric Gouda (2011-09-27) - Aechmea recurvata has many forms and I do not think the current variety circumscriptions are sufficient to distinguish them. For example I had a specimen flowering with exerted inflorescence one year and not exerted in the next year. I'm growing a very small specimen with black leaf sheaths now that does not fitt any variety. (Sent: brom-l@science.uu.nl)
