Guzmania bessae
(Uploaded as: Guzmania conifera)
Locality: Peru - San Martin - Abra Patricia Reserve, at about 2500 meters
Photographer: Bill Holliday (Sent: brom-l@science.uu.nl)
Identification: Solved
- Identification: Eric Gouda (2014-01-28) =Guzmania bessae
- Looks more close to Guzmania bessae (Sent: brom-l@science.uu.nl)
- Identification: Jeffrey Kent (2014-01-28) =Guzmania veneaceae
- Flowers off G. veneacea are at the terminus of the inflorescence
- Note: Eric Gouda (2014-01-29) - Jeff, where did you get this name: Guzmania veneaceae. It has never been published! (Sent: brom-l@science.uu.nl)
- Note: Peter Tristram (2014-01-29) - I'm sure Jeff means vinacea. It's a dead ringer for besseae to me, a plant I used to have and identified with HEL's help - like a compact headed, narrow leafed vinacea! (Sent: brom-l@science.uu.nl)
- Identification: Eric Gouda (2014-01-29) =Guzmania vinacea,
- Must say it looks much different to the cultivated plant, used for the description, but I see many similarities too. Not convinced yet.... (Sent: brom-l@science.uu.nl)
- Note: Peter Tristram (2014-01-29) - I'll post some photos of a plant of what was identified as Guz. besseae, ex Knize many years ago. (Sent: brom-l@science.uu.nl)
- Note: Jeffrey Kent (2014-02-03) - I am still uncertain as the image doesn't show flowers, but the long scape points towards bessae! I agree with Peter Tristam. (Sent: brom-l@science.uu.nl)
