Pitcairnia orchidifolia
(Uploaded as: Pitcairnia )
Photographer: Margaret Kraa
Identification: Solved
- Identification (6316): HEL (2010-12-30) =Pitcairnia(Pepinia) orchidifolia
- as far as I can see P. grafii is conspecific with P. orchidifolia. The belong in Pepinia based on seed morphology. Happy New Year. (Sent: brom-l@science.uu.nl)
- Note (6316): Uncle Derek (2010-12-31) - I agree with you that your plant does not look like P. grafii. It is supposed to have two growing phases just like Pit heterophylla which is a spiny 'onion' when dormant. Please check. (Sent: brom-l@science.uu.nl)
- Note (6316): HEL (2011-01-03) - The reduced foliage phase is not that dramatic, leaves get smaller but more or less the same form unless really drought stressed. (Sent: brom-l@science.uu.nl)
