13701 - Bromeliads (Wild) - 2018-03-13 (Dimension: 2030 x 1384 pixels - Counter: 7312) Tillandsia confinis var caudata (Uploaded as: Aechmea confinis var caudata?) Locality: Ecuador, Loja Province - Photographed on Route 682 south of Loja in or near Podocarpus Park. Growing epiphytically high in trees along the road and in the forest. Elevation: 2516 meters. Photographer: Jerry Raack Note: I was unable to get close to any of these clumps to take closeup photos. However, based off the photos and the description I read in the Encylopedia of Bromeliads I think this may be Aechmea confinis var caudata based on the very long lower primary bracts, and the rest of the description which basically fits T. confinis. These were fairly large plants growing to about 70 or 80 cm high. (Sent: brom-l@science.uu.nl) Identification: Solved
