Note: comparing with Takizawa's Handbook this is var divaricata, it easily forms a lot of pups, spike 1m and more, orange with pink flowers (Sent: brom-l@science.uu.nl)

- This matches the coastal lowland type in Ecuador that is usually an epiphyte, often on telephone wires. There seems to be a cline N to S, high to low with floral bract covering, ie; dense around Guayaquil, glabrous around Cuenca. HEL ps not sure what happens in Peru. (Sent: brom-l@science.uu.nl)
