(Uploaded as: VRIESEA)
Locality: COLOMBIA S.A - Fusagasuga
Photographer: IGNACIO MORENO
Identification: Solved
- Identification (5365): HEL (2009-12-31) =Vriesea pardalina
- Where is it? In cult. or wild.? Narrow endemic at mid elevation in Se Brasil. (Sent: brom-l@nic.surfnet.nl)
- Note (5365): IGNACIO MORENO (2009-12-31) - Thanks for the ID
It is in cultivation at medium altitude near BOGOTA (1400m)
The parent was brought from FLORIDA as originally from PERU (?)
The inflorescence has lasted over 3 months and it has given two pups - Note (5365): Harry Luther (2010-01-06) - From what Ive seen they look different; add on V. capixabae and perhaps rubyae and you have a nice little complex. Its not only density but bract conformation; in guttata and capixabae the margins are incurving and the thickness of the inflorescence shallow, in pardalina the spike is thick and the bract margins are more or less parallel.
