- Opmerking: Everton Hilo de Souza (2022-03-26) - Guzmania monostachia occurs in disjuncted subpopulations in northeast Brazil.
G. monostachia occupies remnants of Dense and Semidecidal Seasonal Ombrophila Forests in high altitude regions of Caatinga. These types of forest formation are highly fragmented in the northeastern bras, and about 30% loss of original vegetation cover is estimated to have occurred in recent years.
The species is collected and used for animal forage. Thus has been classified as "Vulnerable" (VU).
