Tillandsia tenuifolia var. tenuifolia
Verzamel locatie: from Maria Teresa Vega
Fotograaf: Matthias Asmuss
Opmerking: on the new uploaded photo you can see on the
right a Venezuelan Ti tenuifolia (collected from
the wild); on the left is the plant to be identified.
I have two big clumps from M.T. Vega and several
plants from P. Glucksmann, both are not alive
anymore. I finally found a tag on one of the
clumps: Ti aeranthos 'Major' Argent. from Tropiflora
so our Uncle is probably right about the hybrid or
at least cultivar ?

- one of the many forms
- Opmerking (5521): Derek Butcher (2010-03-04) - Interesting that the taxonomists always seem to think species but if your plant had come from the USA I would have said hybrid! T aeranthos is a bag of worms because to my mind much natural hybridising is occurring. Rio Grande do Sul State is the place to go. Teresia Strehl named several forms of T aeranthos but alas she is no longer with us. I know that she left many forms unresolved. Are they forms of T. aeranthos or T. tenuifolia?
