2664 - Bromeliads (Wild) - 2009-07-06 (Dimension: 1530 x 2050 pixels - Counter: 26589) Guzmania sp. Locality: Peru - Cuzco (Manu National Park) - San Pedro Biological Station, Manu National Park multi-use zone. Photographer: Steven Heathcote Note: This is a very abundant plant around 1500 to 1800m in the tropical montane cloud forest. Despite this I can not seem to catch it in flower. The young inflorescence is green with strong hints of red in the stem/primary bracts later fading to the green. The plants always seem to have one or two leaves with yellow or red colouration. I cant consistently key this species out. Can anyone help? (Sent: brom-l@nic.surfnet.nl) Identification: pending (Click on the picture to enlarge)
