6318 - Bromeliads (Garden) - 2011-01-09 (Dimension: 606 x 482 pixels - Counter: 18515) Pitcairnia flammea? Locality: Brazil S. America - Sao Paulo - From Mauro in Sao Paulo State South America. Photographer: Allan Ladd Note: This Pitcairnia was sold to me as Pitcairnia garrifi seed? Plant was one of a batch of seedlings which were very consistent in foliage & flower, all with rich soft green foliage with brilliant scarlet to orange red simple inflorescence. (See old inflorescence for structure). This plant likes damp soils & is an evergreen in my climate, no dormant stage as Derek mentioned. I make the assumption that it is a form of P. flammea, any suggestions as to the true ID??? (Sent: brom-l@science.uu.nl) Identification: asked (Click on the picture to enlarge) |
