- Identification: Uncle Derek (2013-01-04) =Alcantarea regina
- 25 years ago this may have been known as Vriesea geniculata but these days it is likely to be Alcantarea regina. Note the upward secund flowering. The last 10 years has seen lots of changes in this genus (Sent: brom-l@science.uu.nl)

Thank you very much for your kind help with the identification. Obviously, since I am entering my 81th year of age, many recent updates break away from my awareness. But, donĀ“t you admit that this image shows a very very beautiful view of an important bromeliad, looking like a imaginative bromeliad Christmas tree ? I wish you will have a very happy 2013.
