13692 - Bromeliads (Wild) - 2018-03-13 (Dimension: 2030 x 1550 pixels - Counter: 6584) Mezobromelia Locality: Ecuador, Zamora-Chinchipe Province - Found on the road East from Los Encuentros going toward the Condor mountains. I found this unknown Mezobromelia growing in among the ground-cover ferns on the road cuts where Guzmania garciaensis grows (elevation1632 meters). It was completely hidden under the ferns. I discovered it only because I climbed a hillside to get a better picture of G. garciaensis. It measures 50 cm high by 40 cm wide. I also saw it as an epiphyte along this road, but rarely. Jose Manzanares told me it is currently "under study". Photographer: Jerry Raack Note: Showing the base of the plant. Identification: asked (Click on the picture to enlarge) |
