5345 - Bromeliads (Garden) - 2009-11-27 (Dimension: 1358 x 2050 pixels - Counter: 19985) Pitcairnia lehmannii (Uploaded as: Pitcairnia sp. (lehmannii?)) Locality: Large Pitcairnia species from collector in Queensland. Origin unknown but probably grown from imported seed. About 1.5m or so tall. Somewhat rhizomatous - 30cm, with dense, recurved spines on the edges of the elongating sheaths which are very dark at the base (30cm+) (merge into narrowed, channelled leaves. until blade starts then entire).
