- Identification (10310): Eric Gouda (2012-08-13) =Tillandsia paraensis
- Tillandsia juruana = Tillandsia paraensis (Sent: brom-l@science.uu.nl)
- Add Note (10310): Uncle Derek (2012-08-14) - Mez 1935 considered them separate. Smith 1977 treated them as synonymous. Amended L Hromadnik in Die Bromelie 1/1998 back to 2 species. Nothing published to refute the latest claim. Flowers on T. juruana said to be 65mm long (Sent: brom-l@science.uu.nl)
- Add Note (10310): Eric Gouda (2012-08-14) - Your are right Derek. T.paraens occurs throughout the whole Amazon region, from the North (Guianas) up to into the Andes of Peru and is a variable species especially in size, lenght of infl. etc. I don't think this T.juruana cut wood (except in this picture :-). (Sent: brom-l@science.uu.nl)
- Add Note (10310): Uncle Derek (2012-08-15) - UM! T. juruana is said to come from W Brazil/E. Peru. This is on the edge of the distribution and included in the range for. Tparaensis. The only recorded difference seems to be pink-rose petals for T. paraensis and purple-red for T. juruana. I let you decide opn the subtleties of colour. As for synonymy Luther's binomilal lists agree with Eric! (Sent: brom-l@science.uu.nl)
