11893 - Bromeliads (Wild) - 2014-11-19 (Dimension: 2030 x 1550 pixels - Counter: 8621) Tillandsia tovarensis (Uploaded as: Tillandsia ) Locality: Peru - Amazonas - Found growing in masses at Kuelap archeological site at 3000 meters. Size is 1.5 to 2 meters tall. Growing primarily epiphytically, but a few plants were also terrestrial (may have fallen to the ground when young, then matured in place). Very showy plant. Photographer: Jerry Raack Note: Appears to be widespread and growing at different elevations all the way down to about 1800 meters, but branching of inflorescence not as well developed at lower elevations. I located several plants growing at the Leymebamba Museum in pots. I will supply a photo of one of those as well. Identification: solved (Click on the picture to enlarge)
