10680 - Bromeliads (Garden) - 2013-01-12 (Dimension: 683 x 540 pixels - Counter: 12700) UNKNOWN - Quesnelia Aechmea Cross??? Locality: USA - Louisiana - New Orleans Photographer: Victoria Goff Note: Came from Eric Knowbloch's collection. An extremely hardy plant that booms year round. Suspect it to be bigeneric. Handles freezing temps and is not inclined to root rot, leaves never brown. Lives in deep shade to full sun, grows well in trees or in a pot. Average offsets per bloom - about 5 to 7. Offsets will bloom within one year making this the most prolific plant I own (and I have hundreds of different kinds). Derik Butcher said it might be an experiment that should have been culled. Really? Contact me and I will even send you a plant for identification. Since when has hardiness not been an admirable trait? Aside from the goofy bloom presentation, it's got every bromeliad I have ever known beat and I think it deserves registration. If you need more photos, feel free to email me at vikigoff@gmail.com. If you have seen this plant anywhere, please let me know. I'm sure it has survived somewhere...that's what it does!
