- Identification (10448): Uncle Derek (2012-10-02) =Vriesea hybrid
- Regrettably you cannot identify a plant that has not been identified! 'VAletta' has not been registered. A taxonomist will iignore all plants that have not been properly named and published. A Cultonomist does the same thing with Cultivars/Hybrids. Just as you could do the investigation for a species plant and make it legitimate you can do the same with a hybrid but much easier. Find out the history and get the name recorded in the Bromeliad Cultivar Register. But then, Ikea did not consider it worthy of a name and neither did the person who sold it to them. Therefore any cultivar name like 'Valetta' is worthless. Just as a suggestion your plant looks like one of the hybrids created in Germany based on 'Komet' (Sent: brom-l@science.uu.nl)
- Add Note (10448): VItaly Alyonkin (2012-10-02) - Dear Derek, I had a guess what this hybrid, but there was no certainty, that the pictures with this plant were placed in the definitions section. All claims should be directed to IKEA, but not me) If this photos are not worthy to be at resource they can be removed. (Sent: brom-l@science.uu.nl)
