- Identification (7245): Eric Gouda (2011-09-26) =Mezobromelia sp.nov.

- Identification (7245): Michael H. J. Barfuss (2015-09-25) =Mezobromelia bicolor
- When compared to the type specimen of M. bicolor (available when googeled for pictures of M. bicolor) and to the description and illustration of S&D (1364, 1365) the plant seems identical, except that it has few more spikes. The locality (Valle del Cauca) is in the same area as the type collection of M. bicolor. (Sent: brom-l@science.uu.nl)
- Note (7245): José M. Manzanares (2016-01-30) - This beautiful bromeliad is the Mezobromelia bicolor (Sent: brom-l@science.uu.nl)
- Note (7245): Laura Ospina (2020-04-27) - Eric Gouda - in the Facebook Group Bromelias en Colombia, there is a discussion that this may in fact be Guzmania rauhiana (Sent: brom-l@science.uu.nl)
