Neoregelia fosteriana

Locality: Australia - New South Wales - Shellharbour Village
Photographer: Neville Wood
Note: A few years back I purchased this plant which I was led to believe was a species Neoregelia called fosteriana. Since then there have been a few different growers who have suggest that it may not be true to name, but can't offer any other name.
Any help would be appreciated
Identification: asked
(Click on the picture to enlarge)
- Identification (11300): Uncle Derek (2014-02-01) ='Purple Haze'
- In the 1970's this was imported from the USA but Olwen Ferris realised it was the wrong name and suspected it was a hybrid. She changed the name to 'Purple Haze' but not everybody listened. I will send you privately the whole sad story so you can check your plant but already I see hooked sepals from your photo. (Sent: brom-l@science.uu.nl)
