Locality: Peru - Amazonas - Dry Utcubamba Forest near Milpuj La Heredad at 1800m. Always found growing on the ground in dry forest areas.

- Identification: Walter Till (2014-11-19) =Tillandsia cf. stenoura var. mauroi
- Leaf sheaths seem to be purple inside, so it comes close to the above taxon. Has also strong similarities with t. purpurascens and T. wurdackii. Certaily not T. cajamarcensis
