13768 - Bromeliads (Wild) - 2018-03-21 (Dimension: 1530 x 2050 pixels - Counter: 9512) Tillandsia stenoura Locality: Ecuador, Azuay Province - Side road west from Portete at an elevation of 2900 meters. Photographer: Jerry Raack Note: This is a much larger form than that I just posted that was seen west of Banos (Cuenca). The spikes are more laxly spaced on the inflorescence, the spikes are much longer with more flowers, the scape bracts are dried where the spikes are attached to the axis, and the flowers do not open up, but stay fused with a white tip. Hard to believe they are the same species. Growing both epiphytically and terrestrially in this area. (Sent: brom-l@science.uu.nl) Identification: asked (Click on the picture to enlarge) |
